For far too long, Galveston's most valuable resource has been disregarded. It is high time that the well-being of our island's residents takes precedence in ALL decision-making processes. This requires that the city play a pivotal role in endorsing workforce housing to retain our industry workers and provide support to those who aspire to live, work, engage in recreational activities, and raise the next generation of Islanders.

When housing prices and development cater exclusively to out-of-town visitors, we miss the opportunity to retain some of the most crucial members of our community, including teachers, police officers, firefighters, healthcare professionals, and service industry employees, who play vital roles in our everyday lives.
